My Story

I became a mom at 15 to twin boys. A few months later, at 16 years old I was diagnosed with Endometriosis and was told “nothing you can do about it”  and that debilitating pain would plague me for the rest of my childbearing years. To say we had a rocky start would be a gross understatement. When most kids were learning to drive, I was learning to cook and feed a family- neither of which I knew how to do.

“Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.” - Maya Angelou

I did my best until I knew better. In the beginning we ate the standard American diet of easy, cheap, and fast food. Macaroni cheese and chicken nuggets were a staple and “homemade” just meant I made it at home…from a package. But a little voice inside was telling me that there was a connection to the food we eat and our health. I began to see the negative impact of the food we were eating. My energy, mood, hormones, and health were suffering and I was only in my early 20’s. On top of that my sons seemed to be getting sick far too often. I knew there had to be another way and something inside me said it was connected to the food we eat. Little by little I changed the way we ate. I read everything I could get my hands on about holistic nutrition and how to properly prepare food.

The changes I witnessed were immediate. My sons were getting sick far less often, they began to sleep better and behavioral issues became few and far between. Personally, I began to have more energy, PATIENCE, clearer skin, and mental clarity. My hormones which had always been up and down since my endometriosis diagnosis, came into balance. We got healthy right along side each other. I watched our vitality increase, and my families health flourish.

This journey opened up a whole new world for me. I trained in Pilates, Crossfit, and Yoga, and eventually started teaching all three. From where I began, I never imagined I would be where I am now.

I ultimately chose this path because I believe that nutrition and movement are the foundation of health.

My hope is that the work I do as a Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner will have a ripple effect, and that the people I work with will bring their newfound knowledge and belief in the power of food and movement home to their families, friends, and co-workers. A persons health doesn’t need to be a burden and food does not need to be complicated to optimize health.

Whether you are dealing with fatigue, hormonal imbalance, or digestive dysfunction I will work with you to find the root cause and guide you back to the health that you deserve.
